Biography
David Gracey is a Senior Staff Specialist at the Renal Unit at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in Sydney and the Statewide Renal Transplant Service, with appointments at Wagga Wagga, Griffith and The Canberra Hospital. He is an Associate Professor at the Central Clinical School, University of Sydney. He completed a PhD in Immunology at The Centenary Institute, University of Sydney, investigating the mechanisms of renal allograft rejection.
David's clinical focus is the interaction of the immune system with renal disease; particularly in renal transplantation and chronic viral infections. He has published Australian Guidelines regarding the assessment and suitability of patients with chronic viral infections for renal transplantation. He has published widely on kidney disease in patients infected with HIV, and continues research in this area, as well as investigating the immune profile of renal transplant patients and their subsequent risk of allograft rejection.
